PROJECT GREENLIGHT

Here’s a few clips of me in the first episode of HBO’s Project Greenlight series. Highlights include Matt Damon slamming the video scene I submitted to the contest (which I deserved), then telling Miramax execs to buy my screenplay The Upgrade (which they did).

THE RECIPE FOR CRUELTY

The Recipe for Cruelty is a 16mm neo-noir short film I wrote and directed many years ago on a very modest budget. Two escaped Southern convicts, Duane and Verlaine (Jim Burke & Rafael Cabrera), attempt to make a getaway to Mexico with Duane’s girlfriend Tina (Erika Danielson), a mysterious cake, and a batch of lurid prison letters. Think Cyrano de Bergerac but below the Mason-Dixon line.

Below are two versions of the film: a recently re-edited 25-minute “director’s cut” (some of the 16mm elements from the film’s original ending were damaged over the years) as well as a shorter 20-minute “festival cut” with an alternate ending.

NYU STUDENT FILMS

Afternoon Delight – A 16mm black and white short about infidelity and prime cuts of meat set to a classic Starland Vocal Band track.

Do Not Open Til X-Mas – What Would Jesus Do? If he’s anything like the one in this deadpan 16mm black and white short, he’d take a nasty tumble down the Stairway to Heaven, only to be delivered to a New York bookie to pay off his Holy Father’s gambling debts.

NYC AUDIO WALKING TOURS

Below are a few samples of celebrity-narrated New York City audio walking tours that I scripted for the company CityQuest Audio Tours. The tours covered cherished locales such as Washington Square Park, The Stonewall Inn, Chumley’s Pub, Fifth Avenue, and the West 4th Street Basketball Courts. Narrators included James Earl Jones, Harvey Fierstein, Kurt Vonnegut, and Joan Rivers. Note: The original recordings were audio only and did not include the accompanying YouTube images.
